Lufthansa’s ramps up north American Dreamliner capacity

Lufthansa has announced the deployment of the Boeing 787-9 on routes to the United States and Canada from this Summer.

Environmentally friendly: The Dreamliner offers 30% better fuel efficiency than the aircraft is replaces

From 26 March, Lufthansa’s newest aircraft, the Boeing 787-9, is heading to further North American destinations starting with the summer flight schedule as of 26 March.

The 787-9 is a wide-body, twin-engine aircraft manufactured by Boeing and operated by Lufthansa, the German airline. It is part of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family and usually accommodates approximately 290 passengers in a two-cabin configuration (business and economy class). The 787-9 is known for its fuel efficiency and advanced technology, including a quieter cabin, larger windows, and improved air quality systems.

The Dreamliner will fly six times a week from Frankfurt to Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Lufthansa will offer four weekly flights to Montreal, Canada and ramp this up on 1 May to daily flights. Also early in May, Lufthansa will fly its Dreamliner daily to Denver, Colorado, three times weekly to Austin, Texas and on 13 February begin serving Detroit, Michigan.

Since October last year the Dreamliner has flown daily to Newark.

Currently, Lufthansa operates three Boeing 787-9s. Two additional Dreamliners will be delivered shortly.

The Boeing 787-9 offers passengers a much improved travel experience.

The cabin is very quiet and depending on the time of day, is lit by an innovative lighting system. The higher entrance area gives a pleasant feeling of more space and the large windows offer the opportunity for better viewing or can be dimmed at the touch of a button.

Business Class guests enjoy improved seating with, among other things, direct aisle access.

The state of the art long-haul Dreamliner is one of the most fuel efficient and environmentally friendly long-haul Lufthansa aircraft. On average, it consumes 2.5 litres of kerosene per passenger per 100 kilometers flown or 30% less than aircraft of the preceding generation.

By 2027, Lufthansa Group will take delivery a total of 32 new Boeing 787-9s.

Norse Atlantic Airways launches ticket sales between Norway and the United States

Norse Atlantic Airways has opened ticket sales for flights between Norway and the United States marking what the airline calls ‘a new era for consumers seeking good value, choice and friendly service when choosing to travel across the Atlantic’. 

Fares will start from $129 one-way, including all applicable taxes. The first flight departing from Oslo to New York (JFK) will take place on 14 June.

The airline will also serve Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Orlando (MCO) and Los Angeles (LAX) from Oslo.

Customers are now able to book flights between Oslo, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Los Angeles. 

  • Flights from Oslo to New York will commence on 14 June 14th ramping up to daily flights from 4 July.
  • Flights from Oslo to Fort Lauderdale will commence on 18 June operating three weekly flights.
  • Flights between Oslo and Orlando will commence on 5 July operating three weekly flights.
  • Flights from Oslo to Los Angeles will commence om 9 August operating three weekly flights.

Norse Atlantic offers two cabin choices, Economy and Premium.

Passengers can choose from a simple range of fares, Light, Classic and Plus, that reflect the way that they want to travel, and which options are important to them.

Light fares represent Norse’s value option while Plus fares include the maximum baggage allowance, two meal services an enhanced airport and onboard experience and increased ticket flexibility.

All Nippon Airways orders twenty 787s

ANA will expand its fleet with the mixed order of 20 new Boeing 787-10 and 787-9 aircraft, a move the airline says leaves it well positioned for long term success as it increases its emphasis on sustainability.

The order will include orders of eleven 787-10 aircraft and nine 787-9 models. The 787-10s, which has been selected to serve the airline’s domestic routes, will enter service between 2022 and 2024, with the 787-9s, scheduled for international service beginning in 2024 and concluding in 2025.

Yutaka Ito, Executive Vice President of ANA said:

Boeing’s 787s have served ANA with distinction, and we are proud to expand our fleet by adding more of these technologically advanced aircraft.

These planes represent a significant step forward for ANA as we work to make our entire fleet more eco-friendly and to reduce noise output. Introducing the 787-10 on the domestic routes will help ANA Group maintain its leadership role and improve our ability to operate as a responsible corporate citizen.

The Boeing 787 harness advanced aircraft design materials, significantly improving its efficiency compared to the Boeing 777 planes currently deployed by ANA. Replacing the domestic 777s with the 787s will allow ANA to achieve 25% better fuel efficiency. Because the 787 also generates less sound that the 777, the move will also reduce noise emissions.

If all 20 planes enter service, ANA will operate a total of 103 787s by 2025. The newly ordered planes will utilise engines manufactured by GE Aviation.

ANA HD considers a range of factors when adding aircraft to its fleet, and the Boeing 787 was selected after a thorough evaluation process determined that it would best meet ANA HD’s goals while helping the airline boost service and hospitality.

British Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner Flights On Sale Now.

Seats are now available to book on the latest addition to British Airways’ fleet of aircraft, namely the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Dreamliner will offer three cabins (World Traveller, World Traveller Plus & CLub World) and 214 seats on board.

You can book now for travel from 1st September 2013, when the Dreamliner will commence services from London Heathrow to Toronto and from 1st October 2013, the 787 will also start operating to Newark Liberty International Airport, NJ.

Fly The Dreamliner!

LOT Polish Airlines will be the first European airline to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and for a short period only this brand new aircraft will be operating between London Heathrow and Warsaw.

So, if you’d like the chance to see what all the fuss is about, the Dreamliner will be operating on the following dates : 21, 22, 29, 30 & 31st December 2012 and the 1st and 2nd January 2013.
