Singapore Airlines – moving into T2 very soon…

On Wednesday 17th of this week Singapore Airlines will begin operating to and from Heathrow Airport’s new Terminal 2, the Queen’s Terminal. The first flight departing from T2 will be the SQ317 departing at 1130.

Passengers who are travelling in Suites, First or Business Class, or who hold Star Alliance GOLD status can proceed to a Singapore Airlines First & Business Class check-in desk, located in Zone A to check-in for their flight.

Upon arrival at the airport Economy Class passengers can use any of  the 66 self-service kiosks to check-in and print their individual boarding pass and bag tags. After tagging their own bags, they may then proceed to any Singapore Airlines bag drop desk in Zone A to complete the check-in process.

Terminal 2 | The Queen’s Building Opens Today!

Heathrow Airport’s brand new Terminal 2 opens today, Wednesday 4th June 2014, with Her Majesty the Queen officially opening the building on Monday 23rd June 2014.

The first flight, a United Airlines’ flight from Chicago, arrived at Terminal 2 this morning shortly before 0600 BST. Officially known as the Queen’s Building, Terminal 2 will become home to all Star Alliance carriers, plus Aer Lingus, Germanwings & Virgin Atlantic Little Red.

It is important to note that there will be a phased approach, with all of the aforementioned airlines moving into T2 over the course of the next four months. United Airlines is the first airline to move in today, followed by Air Canada on 18th June, with Air New Zealand, Asiana, SAA & TAP Air Portugal being the last carriers to move across from Terminal 1 on 22nd October 2014.

Enjoy the new Terminal 2, I (PB) was fortunate enough to go on a tour of the building earlier in the year, and it will be a fantastic new terminal from which to fly into and out of.

Heathrow Terminal 2 To Open In One Year.

Heathrow Airport will open its new Terminal 2 in less than a years time. The £2.5 billion facility will eventually serve 20 million passengers each year after opening its doors on June 4, 2014.

The first aircraft, a United Airlines flight from Chicago, is scheduled to land at 0555. Prior to the opening next June there will be six months of testing involving 14,000 people in 182 trials.

Terminal 2 will be home to 25,000 staff and 23 Star Alliance airlines, as well as Aer Lingus, Virgin Atlantic Little Red and Germanwings. It will open in phases, with the 26 airlines moving in over a period of six months. Just 10 per cent of flights will operate for the first three weeks of June before gradually building up to full operations.
